Use the difficulty

– Posted in: Business, Marketing, Presentations, Psychology, Success, Training, Wellbeing

I have built my business on something that was so difficult, for me, I never thought I could ever do it. It turns out that a person can use a difficulty to create amazing, and successful, results. I have been listening to Michael Caine, this week, reading from his autobiography 'Blowing the bloody doors off' as part of BBC radio 4's 'Book of the week' (I bought the book). I was fascinated by his description of his journey to becoming an actor.  He also describes a philosophy that he uses, in his life, and that he has taught his children. He learnt this philosophy as a young actor - during […]

I made a mistake, before Christmas, that probably has cost me a consultancy. However, I've learnt something that means I will increase my income for the future. Someone saw me performing magic, for some of my granddaughter's friends, whilst I was chaperoning her in at a birthday party. One of the mother's asked "Do you offer training in magic?" I replied with something very helpful, that I thought would be a good starting point for a sale (in very specific kind of presentation training) but I just might have well said "No". In hindsight, I should have said something like "Yes. I have a 2 session foundation training for £120. […]

Name your product

Many consultants, or business owners, will be familiar with this question: "So, what is it that you do again?" When meeting people at a networking event it can be difficult to keep track of who does what. This is especially true at events where each attendee gets a chance to do a 'one minute pitch'. You can make it easier on your fellow networkers by having a product name that is both descriptive and simple to remember. I does not matter if you have a range of products or services, it turns out that having a signature product is the best way to become known as a key person of […]

Principle based psychology in business

– Posted in: Business, Marketing, Psychology, Success, Training, Wellbeing

I just sent an email to someone that included the sentence “I believe that you are at an exciting stage in your life - with your new understanding of the ‘inside-out’ nature of reality.” I know some people, who have not experienced the benefits of understanding how the mind works, might question my use of the phrase “exciting stage in your life”.  However, I found that my understanding of the ‘Three Principles’, from which we experience life, has increased my levels of productivity and well-being beyond anything I could have imagined. Most of us, whether in a business context or not, are just scratching the surface of the potential of […]

With a little planning, rehearsal and a structured approach, it is possible for anyone to deliver a professional presentation. Being able to talk with ease in front of a group of people is a useful skill for creating success in business. There should be three sections to any presentation: • Introduction (INTRO) -- tell them what you are going to […]
