From innocence, through fear, to enlightenment.
I have recently been able to create a sense of well-being that, for me, I had not thought would ever be possible. I had no idea that I was missing out on so much happiness. In the last 11 years I have become increasingly happy and excited.
When I was very young, and I didn’t know any better, I was really happy and curious about my world. Then, through experience, I decided the world was much more frightening that I had originally realised. I developed a lack of self-belief, with a low self-esteem, based on a foundation of dyslexia and my experience of being bullied. However, by learning about how my brain works I have developed and understanding, of the building blocks of the human experience, that has given me an amazing ability to develop deeper, and more profound, relationships with everyone I meet.
Just recently I realised that I have been through a four stage process. First I was just dealing with what was happening at any particular moment. I was dealing with what was in front of me; my physical reality. This turned out to be an unfulfilling battle against other people’s version of ‘reality’.
Secondly, I went through a, some might say, Freudian stage when I started to consider the content of my thoughts and how things were inevitable; given my past experience and the past experiences of the people with whom I was communicating.
The third stage I went through was when I was exposed to a systematic approach to the actual structure and process of thinking. I was really astounded by the impact that a single conversation could have on a person who had previously considered themselves to be worthless, and too damaged to be of any use. This motivated me to find out more about ‘change work’. I discovered, and have been trained in, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and hypnosis. This opened up so many options for me.
I had always been worried when people ‘went inside their head’ because I could not gauge what they were thinking. I was frightened that they might be about to attack me, physically or verbally, so I was always wanting people to be preset to the moment and to communicate with me openly. It was a complete reversal for me to use hypnosis. I would actively encourage people to ‘go inside’, and then facilitate their thought processes in a way that empowered them; as they designed their ideal future and started on the process of living it.
My most recent realisation has been based around my research into the electro-chemical processes of the ‘mind-body’. Due to my lack of written ability my career started in engineering; using my hands. I then went on to be a corporate trainer integrating business processes with the software systems that supported that process. As I developed an understanding of the mind/body processes I started to learn more about the underlying physics. This took me to research quantum physics, biology, consciousness and even cosmology.
The forth, and I believe ultimate, stage I have gone through is to have an understanding of the three principles of life: We are alive. We can think. We are conscious of our thoughts. In the words of one of my mentors, Jamie Smart: “We do not live in a world of circumstance. We live in a world of experience created by our own thinking”.
Once a person understands that we create our own experience of reality they have the ability to accept their own innate well-being. Details of the inside-out understanding, known as the three principles, are in many books and websites. If you wish to discuss how the three principles can help you please contact me. My objective is to have a conversation with someone so we can decide if we would like to work together. For me to work with a person they must be committed to something; I must enjoy talking with them; they must have some challenge and be inspired in some way. To your balanced success.
